This is an increible development. As for me, I've got an uncle who has hearing impairment, and I could never communicate fluently with him. It's such a pity not only for them, but for us, too - we miss a lot of what these people have to offer to us with their words. These developments are bringing about their inclusion as active members in our community. I think that a society that doesn't care for the underpriviledged, the disabled and old people is heading the wrong direction, to put it softly. So, these students are pulling their weight, building the road towards the right one. It would also be a good idea to encourage students in the ELT field to take a course not only on sign language, but also braille. That knowledge will then be part of the armoury of a new generation of educators, people who are crucial members of society.
